North Mississippi Gourd Festival - Saturday May 8 and 9, 2010

The theme for the third annual Gourd Festival will be "Fruit of the Gourds".

Vendor Information

Regulations
No vendors will be under the eaves of the barn. These spaces will be held for classes.
A 10 X 10 space is $15.00 per day or two days for $25.00
$5.00 for electricity per vendor. Vendor must furnish UL approved power cords and any additional lamps or light fixtures needed.
$20.00 rental for tents
$10.00 rental for tables
Vendors returning from last year's show or those who will be teaching a class or giving demonstrations will be given first priority on booth sites.
In order to be assured of a space, all applications and checks should be postmarked no later than one month before festival.
Vendor spaces will be assigned and confirmation sent as soon as possible.
Vendors must be set up by 8 a.m. on Saturday and remain set up until 5 p.m. Sunday. Exceptions will be total sell outs.
Vendors may register and set up on Friday.
Adkins Farms assumes no responsibility for accidents, damage or theft.
All vendors are responsible for collecting and paying state taxes.
All vendor fees are non-refundable. A return-check fee of $25.00 will be charged.

Itinerary

The 2010 gourd festival will be a two day fling, May 8 & 9.
Saturday 8 a.m. till 6 p.m. will feature a fried catfish dinner with all the trimmings, dessert & drink at 7pm.
On Sunday, Mississippi Gourd Society meets at 8:30 a.m. and the festival runs from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m.


Gourd Class Registration

Classes will be held at Adkins Farms during our 3rd Annual North Mississippi Gourd Festival.

To register for a class, please send us your check, payable to Adkins Farms 373 Hwy 364 Booneville, MS. 38829 along with your name, address, phone # and email address.

A non refundable fee of $5.00 will hold your place in class.

Classes will be posted as soon as they become available.

Gourd Competition

MSGS Ribbon Competition May Festival 2010

Stems are not required, but if used must be cleaned and complement the rest of the gourd.

Division 1.
Theme Art
Any use of gourd or combined gourds relating to the theme of festival: "Fruit of the Gourds"

Division 2.
Gourd Basket
Any technique may be used, can be lined but not required.

Division 3.
Gourd Purse
Any technique may be used

Division 4.
Painted Gourd
May be cut or whole. Must use paint not dyes.

Division 5.
Pyrography (woodburning)
May be cut or whole gourd. No mini's.

Division 6.
Gourd Bowl with rim
Any technique may be used, paint, dyes, decopodge, phrography, etc.
But must have rim. (any type)

Division 7.
Holiday Gourd
Any holiday may be used, may use one gourd or multiple gourds or pieces.

Division 8.
Bird House Gourd
Must hang. May use natural or man made materials, paint, dyes,or stains.
Must be functional.

Division 9.
Animal Gourd
Any type animal ,land, reptile, insect, water/sea, or bird. Small amounts of
other materials allowed such as clay, seeds, grasses or other materials.

Division 10.
Vessel Gourds
This is vases, urns, pitchers. Any technique may be used.

We will have 1st and 2nd place only on these 10 Divisions
We will also have People's Choice Ribbon, voted on by people attending festival.
We will have Best of Show Ribbon voted on by MSGS Executive Board.
